Office for Early Childhood Education and Care

From January 2012,  Family Day Care services were required to abide by the requirements of the National Quality Framework.  This Framework has introduced National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework  for child care services. All services nationwide will be regulated under the one system.

Family Day Care services are required to be licensed,hold service approval and comply with the legislative requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law 2011.

 The Office for Early Childhood Education and Care is the Regulatory Authority responsible for approving, licensing and regulating and rating early childhood education and care services in Queensland.

The National Quality Standards (NQS)

All Early Childhood  services in Australia are currently being against the National Quality Standards. Services will be required to display their assessment rating and it will be published online under the 'My Child' website. 

 The seven  areas in the National Quality Standards are:

1. Educational program and practice
2. Children’s health and safety
3. Physical environment
4. Staffing arrangements
5. Relationships with children
6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
7. Leadership and service management.

 The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF)

The Early Years Learning Framework is the first national curriculum  for children in early childhood services. The document has been developed as part of the Council of Australian Government’s (COAG) Reform Agenda for Early Childhood Education and Care.

Belonging, Being and Becoming /My Time Our Place

These document is a valuable tool for Educators that includes principles, practices and learning outcomes to support children’s learning and development.  They will guide Educators to provide opportunities to maximise the children’s potential by offering experiences that enhance their interests, capabilities and culture for further learning.
